This is the movie from Power star Pawan Kalyan after a long hiatus after ‘Jalsa’. And this is the movie that has come in the combination of SJ Suryah and Pawan that made big success a decade ago with ‘Khushi’. Pawan, who has been keeping his fans in the lurch for quite a while has finally arrived amidst tension and confusion in the form of ‘Komaram Puli’.

Story
The pregnant wife (Saranya) of an honest cop who is killed by the villain Al-Saleem (Manoj Bajpai) vows to bring up her son as a tough police officer. The kid grows up to be Komarum Puli (Pawan Kalyan) and he is a role model to the entire police department.

Saving the PM’s life, he gets to form ‘Puli Team’ which runs independently of any external force. A missing case incident of inspector Hussain (Suryah) gets him to Saleem and that eventually blooms to become a battle between the two.

On the other hand, there is the heroine (Nikesha) who is doing her best to woo Puli before and after marriage. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Pawan Kalyan was loud and annoying, he reminded of Sai Kumar in Kannada movies showing over energy at every dialogue of his. It kind of looked eccentric than his trademark style of performance…

Nikisha is the saving grace of the film, her beautiful eyes and fresh oomph gives ample visual feast and she has shown enough confidence in body language and expressions in terms of her acting.

Manoj Bajpayee did his best to fit the big villain role and as usual, his character was not etched well to give that heavy and powerful impact.

Saranya was at her standard as a mother, crying when needed, motivating when required and doing justice to her role.

Ali was stale, Shriya was not required at all, Charan Raj was apt, Nasser was natural, Girish Karnad came and went, Brahmaji was brief, the person doing the role of Nixon was rigid, the others came in to fill the gap and the film duration.

No continuity from scene to scene:

In one frame Pawan appears with long moustache and in immediate scene with short one…
In one scene the villain finds his car missing in Hyderabad City Center and in immediate scene he confronts Pawan Kalyan in Bangkok on a roof top helipad and asks to get back his car. …
In one scene Pawan Kalyan wears khakhi uniform and in immediate scene he appears in olive green…

No comedy:

There is no instance where the audiences can laugh whole heartedly.
Pawan Kalyan’s so-called comedy with Nikesha Patel in second half when she seduces him is miserable.

Weak Choreography:

Shriya’s item song got wasted with weak choreography
No song is gripping or holding the attention of audiences visually

Analysis
Right from the word goes, the film takes a sloppy opening and the introduction of Pawan Kalyan was ridiculous. Everything looked disjointed and the feel was missing completely. Here are a few blunders if we can call it

poor graphics in Pawan Kalyan introduction sequences, they looked
childish, hardly any punch in the introduction of Nikesha as well
very wrong sequencing of songs and without proper choreography and unwanted close up shots taking away the appeal
each frame lasted not more than 5 seconds and it was visually very disturbing
weak content
unwanted lectures from Pawan Kalyan for every situation
cheap costume selection for Nikesha in many sequences
The uniform of Puli Team which reminds us of private security force
The dual uniform of Pawan which leaves us with a confusion
Negligible and silly comedy
Not one gripping sequence

The list continues for long but overall, the film lacks the strength or the maturity to really be called as a commercial entertainer.

Unfortunately, the strong presence of Pawan Kalyan was missing in this and he looked quite aloof in the film without any involvement.

The major flaw for the film is the direction and raw handling of the script with patchy screenplay. Editing was another disaster. Given the budget involved even if the costs for the delay are taken away, the film could have been much-much better. Not one song is appealing, background score was just average. At the box office, this will have a good opening but running successfully is ruled out.

Bottom Line: Forget It

The glowing beauty Bhumika Chawla along with her hubby Bharat Thakur came up with their maiden production venture. This also launches the career of few talented youngsters.

Story:
A youthful treat, the story begins with a group of friends Sridhar (Harshavardhan), Chandana (Haripriya), Nandini (Aditi), Mahesh (Trinetrudu), Bhakti (Bhakti), Jessica (Eva), Kishore, Scud.

Each of them have their own stories and in between that is the unexpressed love track of Sri and Chandana, Bhakti and Mahesh, Nandini is in love with Kishore.

They all finish their college exams and are all set to take on the life with full energy but then life has its own twists and turns for them and this in turn gives them an experience which is unforgettable and memorable. What are those experiences? Who has a happy ending and who doesn’t forms the rest of the story..

Performances:
Harshavardhan looks handsome and he has performed well in the dance front and emotional sequences. He has a glint of mischief in his eyes which will make him a youth icon if he chooses his roles well in the future.

Haripriya is the best among the lot. She scores the brownie points with her naturally beautiful looks, her graceful dance moves, her innocent expressions and versatility in different scenes.

Aditi was alright, Bhakti was energetic and looks dynamic, Trinetrudu was natural and does his bit well, the actor doing the role of Scud had a funny face and he makes his presence felt, the actor who did the role of Kishore was alright, Eva’s role was not etched well.

Bhumika is looking younger by the day, she is glowing as usual, Samrat was brief but good, Cochin Haneefa was apt, M S Narayana gave few smiles, both Nag and Anushka did their bit as required. Siva Prasad was good. The others didn’t have much scope.

Analysis:
The film is basically an attempt to come up with a subtle comedy on life’s challenges. However, the director has failed miserably in conceiving it onto the screen though the idea is good. The major flaw lies in the screenplay and the sequencing of the scenes was quite disjointed due to which the audience finds it hard to connect and go with the flow.

The real highlights of the film are the songs, the production values, the music and Haripriya. On the flip side, the weak direction and poor handling of the script gives a blow to the outcome.

Despite the presence of some high caliber technicians like Senthil, Marthand K Venkatesh and others, the director was unable to extract the best out of the film and this gives a stale effect for the audience.

First half of the movie is not gelling well while the second half is pleasing to some extent with some real content. The last few minutes are impressive.

The film could have been better if the foundation was strong and now so the chances of scoring a success are in question. Credit must be given to producer for not compromising in any aspect of production.

Bottom-line: Could have been better

RGV came up with a hard hitting hit ‘Gaayam’ and now the sequel of the film has been brought by his protégé. Jagapathi Babu is also back with the sequel.

Story
Ram (Jagapathi Babu) leads a peaceful and happy life in Bangkok with a successful coffee shop business and a loving family in the form of his beautiful wife Vidya (Vimala), doting son and a brainless brother in law (Harshavardhan). His life takes a turn with the arrival of two people from Hyderabad- a lawyer (Tanikella) and Shankar Narayana (Kota Prasad), son of politician Guru Narayana (Kota Srinivasa Rao), an aspiring CM through the crooked way. The trio suspects that Ram is none other than Durga, their age old rival who gave them sleepless nights. Shankar Narayana and his lawyer try several ways to confirm the true identity of Ram. Whether their doubts are true or not and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Jagapathi Babu has done it before so he didn’t have to strain much, however, he still maintains that intensity in his eyes and the icy violence in his baritone voice.

Vimala Raman is a screen scorcher, though her role is domestic, she shows her wild side in one song which is enough visual feast. She is a tempting seductress blended with good acting skills.

Kota Srinivasa Rao is the show stealer. Despite so many years, his class as an actor and his typical Telangana style dialogues are excellent.

Tanikella was another impressive performer. His character has got length and he fits into it with perfect caliber and screen presence.

Kota Prasad’s performance was effective, he has carried out his role with ease and the right kind of emotions. It is sad that we have lost a fine actor…

Ajay was brief, Ravi Kale was regular, Jeeva was natural, Tarzan was funny, Harshavardhan was average, Nagesh was a new face who is to be watched out for, he has shown potential, the others were there to fill the screen and contributed in their own way.

Analysis
Any film coming from the house of Ram Gopal Varma comes with certain expectations and usually, the results are extreme- a super hit or massive flop. But this time, the director has managed to bring it a saving grace and he was sharp in carrying the film without much hiccups. The dialogues were good, the background score was neat, songs could have been better as they had a retro effect, cinematography was appealing, editing was crisp, costumes and art department made their presence felt. Here are a few highlights of the film

The first half of the film is a straight lift from the Hollywood movie ‘A History Of Violence’. It is a literal scene to scene lift.

The makers had bravely shown the exact political situation in the state and one can relate Kota’s character to KCR in many ways. Incidentally, there is a lot of truth in the portrayal. The connection between the original and sequel was convincing which is a challenging part.

Scenes from the original ‘Gaayam’ drew whistles and claps from the audience, it was nice to see the raw clippings

On the flip side, since the plot was already known, there was not much variety tried and this brings down the interest. Also, those who have seen the Hollywood movie may not find the first half too appealing since the English flick was awesome. There was an inconsistency in few emotional scenes and the graph fluctuates. Overall, the film runs well due to its racy narration, good continuation and some fine performances. At the box office, this would be an above average grosser but if the makers can push it with aggressive publicity, the film will surely strike the success mark.

Bottom-line: It’s just ok

Komaram Puli’s footage is safe

ABN – Andhrajyothy channel gave sensational news that 15-minutes of footage of Pawan Kalyan has gone missing and there is no other way than reshooting the entire missing scenes. They also declared that Robo and Khaleja are going to release first. However, it is later learnt that there is no such thing happen and everything is going as per the schedule regarding Puli. Efforts are on to release Komaram Puli on 9 September.

Armed and Dangerous is the latest game from Planet Moon Studios, the company behind the goofy, imaginative, and well-received PC and PS2 shooter, Giants: Citizen Kabuto. Humor in games can be a pretty hit-and-miss affair, and while not every single joke in Giants was laugh-out-loud funny, it still managed to be a funny game without feeling fake or forced. Armed and Dangerous features the same humorous spirit as Giants while it also produces a fairly good--though somewhat simplistic--mission-based third-person shooter.

Armed and Dangerous puts you in the role of Roman, a man in charge of a group called the Lionhearts. This four-member group of thieves, made up of Roman, a Scottish moleman named Jonesy, a British robot named Q, and a stinky, little blind mystic named Rexus, is on a quest to steal the all-powerful Book of Rule from the evil King Forge. Along the way you'll encounter objectives that sidetrack you from your quest, most of which involve you saving local villagers who have been enslaved or kidnapped by the king's men. Additionally, you'll blow up a lot of stuff.

In motion, Armed and Dangerous is a pretty straightforward behind-the-back third-person shooter. There are some twists to the formula. For instance, in some missions you'll have a jet pack that lets you jump and glide, while in others, you're able to issue basic attack and defend commands to the rest of your team. There are a few stationary turret levels, but, for the most part, your job is to look at your compass, run in the direction it indicates, and shoot anything that gets in your way.

Katha, Screenplay, Darsakatvam: Appalaraju (2010) Movie Launched

Ram Gopal Varma is re-entering Telugu film industry after a hiatus of 12 years with a comedy flick titled ‘Katha, Screenplay, Darsakatvam: Appalaraju’. Sunil plays the title role as Swati does the female lead. The launch of this movie was held at Annapurna Studios with Sridevi, Nagarjuna and K Raghavendra Rao doing the honors.

Speaking on the occasion Ram Gopal Varma said,”It is an emotional moment for me. It was Sridevi who made me get interested in movies. And it was Nagarjuna who gave me a break in film industry. I am extremely thankful for both of them who came forward to do honors for my movie which I am doing in Telugu after a gap of 12 years. Appalaraju is a special film because it also has some personal moments from journey of becoming film director. Most of the wannabe film directors feel that they are better than the existing directors. Appalaraju is also of opinion that he is better than any of the existing Telugu film directors today. We recorded a song which criticises the existing film directors and I hope that they do take it sportingly.”

Nagarjuna said, “I acted with Sridevi in Aakhari Poratam movie. I was nervous to act with Sridevi and she made me feel comfortable. I am happy to see Ram Gopal Varma back in Telugu. I would love to do another movie with him in the future.”

Sridevi said, “I had never seen such a great co-star like Nagarjuna in my entire career. I am happy for Ram Gopal Varma. I hope that this film will celebrate silver jubilee and me and my husband will attend that function.”

Sunil said, “My mother is a big fan of Sridevi. Sridevi posed for a photo with my mother when she visited the sets of SP Pararuram in Annapurna studios. I felt bad that I couldn’t be there. I attended the auditions of Prematha movie when they were looking for four guys to be part of hero’s friends gang. I was rejected and though followed Ram Gopal Varma from Hyderabad to Palakollu. I am really happy that I am acting as hero in his next straight Telugu movie taken after 12 years. It is a dream come true.”

Swati said that she is excited to be the part of this movie.

Suman Varma is the co-producer. Y Sudhakar Reddy handles camera. Koti composes music. Kiran Kumar Koneru produces this movie on Shreya banner

Thaman music for Mahesh’s film

Music of the movie will be launched on 12 September and movie will be released on 1st October. There will be seven songs composed by Thaman. Three of them will be youthful songs and remaining four songs are targeted towards family crowds. This film sports action episodes that were shot for 40 days. The unit will be going to Swiss and Turkey in September to shoot two songs. Vamsi Paidipalli is the director and Dil Raju produces it.

Uncertainty about biggie release dates

Robo, Khaleja, Komaram Puli and Brindavanam are the four big films that are going to be released soon. Komaram Puli which was supposed to release on 11 August is yet to be released. Though the next tentative date is 3 September, the release on that day is unlikely. Some people are saying that it might release in the second week of September and some others are saying that the release might happen in the first week of October. Since Komaram Puli and Khaleja are produced and distributed by S Ramesh and Allu Arvind respectively, there will be a healthy distance of at least 3 weeks between these two films. The music of Brindavanam is going to be released on 3 of September. The movie release is expected to be the in the last week of September. Though Robo date is confimed on 23 September, there are rumors that it might be postponed to Dasara which will fall in the second week of October. It’s going to be an uncertain time for the releases in the next month. Lets hope that all these four big films will released with a healthy gap.
